Welcome to a Spoonful of Snuggles! As new parents, I think we all feel like we have been thrown into the deep end, but my husband and I had an extra exciting introduction. Our son Cub (not his real name) was born at 33 weeks, and surprised us with several diagnosis that we hadn’t been prepared for. Our extended NICU stay (83 days) and the extra work our little one has had to put into achieving each of his infant milestones has given us a new perspective on parenthood that I think can be helpful for those raising medically complex and healthy babies alike. My husband and I often said that one silver lining to being in the NICU is that we had highly trained medical professionals teaching us to care for our newborn, so by the time we came home, diapering, bathing, and feeding didn’t feel as scary as I’m sure they did for our friends the first night home with their newborn. I started this blog to share what those medical professionals taught me, and everything I have learned since we came home. I’m so happy you’re here to share it with me!
